Gentleman Start your Engines!! Last week we talked about racing on the track... this week we’re discussing racing across country!

We scratched our regularly scheduled program ONCE again to bring you a special edition of Open Road Radio: A Race to the Finish Line!

Pope, Sears, Flying Merkel, Excelsior, Henderson, Indian, Triumph, and the Harley-Davidson’s Silent Grey Fellows. These are but a few of the vintage, pre-1916 motorcycles that will be thumping their way across the United States for the Motorcycle Cannonball endurance run in September 2010.

Typically these bikes are only seen in museums! Why on Earth would these road warriors steer these old iron steeds across the country? 

Cannonball Run challenger Cris Sommer – Simmons ponied up as a participant and joins us on the show to explain these sought after questions!

And speaking of challengers more people each day are registering for the Hoka Hey Motorcycle Challenge which again is a race to the finish... This one however fans vertically 7000 miles across two countries, Key West to Alaska by way of Canada! The purse? $500,000 in Alaskan Gold Nugget, baby! Open Road Radio’s own Robert Shelton is up for the Challenge and partnering with Open Road Radio’s Generation Next host - the Cycle Source Wildman himself Chris Callen!
